I hope Blackpool survive, I would like them to suffer for the rest of the season, then just escape, next season the same, as long as we can beat them and gloat.

Originally posted by Spitfire Should Sheff.W. win on Monday, they would jump up four places then have the MASSIVE game against B`Pool on Saturday. I think the relegation picture will be a lot clearer come Saturday evening. (thank goodness we are no longer involved in it). We still need 4 points for mathematical safety. This has been a bizarre season in the CCC and I'm not counting my chickens yet! Talking of Blackpool-remember some years ago (20/30?)-they went on their end of season holiday, having completed their fixtures and lying in apparent safety, some 6 or 7 places above the drop zone and whilst they were away they got relegated as teams below them (improbably)won their games in hand! It was a wonderful moment [ ]-but it just shows, you're not safe until the maths say you are!

Bill, I fully agree with what you say. However, it will now take a bizarre set of results for us to be relegated.
The first three fixtures in the Championship on Saturday involve six teams who are all currently below us in the table. The worst senario is that they share 9 points between them (it could be six if drawn matches are involved). I`ve supported PNE for over 60 years now and can honestly say that I don`t think that I`ve looked forwards so much to a coming season - as I do the next one. I wouldn`t be the least surprised if history shows that Alan Irvine was the best manager we ever had.

If we do survive, and Season Ticket prices are reduced as rumoured, I think sales will be high, as most fans will be optimistic for the season ahead. Quite a turnaround from the situation in January, when it looked as though we'd be starting next season in League 1 and Season Ticket sales would be at a record low!

Plymouth 2 - 2 Preston
They left it late but it was a good recovery for PNE. With 2 games to play I can't see any real change for Preston this season.

The good point about this game is the fact that we grabbed a point in the 94th minute, which indicates the fact that we didn`t let our heads drop and fought to the end. The sign of a good manager.
As I have said earier - Roll on next season.

They are now mathematically safe. Leicester have to play Sheffield Wednesday whichmeans one or the other or even both if it's a draw, can't exceed 54 points, one less than North End havce currently.

It's OK having faith Jim, but it has to be founded on some kind of knowledge of the man, I had absolutely none, I don't know what you knew about him, and points are worth so much more. Hopefully next season will be one we have something to cheer about.

Obvoiusly nothing is certain in football, but I have a very strong feeling that next season will be one to remember (for all the right reasons).
