Preston North End 2007-2008 Discussion
#21
I think Jewell is out of our league Jim. He'll go to a medium size prem club, wages of £500k pa ( I'm told). He has lost the dressing room, that's obvious the way the players behaved yesterday.
in a vote on the PNE forum, 137 voted for him to be sacked, 6 voted to stay. Anything other than the sack this week will be a travesty and you'll see more and more demonstrations from fed up fans who want to see their team playing football in the PNE style again. Simpson out.

Doesn't seem to be doing any better than Simpson did ! Fact is they've move down a couple of positions since he was hired.

The Hull City result was excellent. Let's hope it wasn't just a shot in the dark.

I was in deepest Derbyshire last night so had to listen to Talk Sport to get the updates. It was a well needed result, let's hope Blackpool get a similar thrashing on Saturday. First time in 7 years we will have played them.

It was a decent display today in horrendous conditions. The game was decided on 2 penalty decisions. Mawene, totally devoid of speed these days took out the Blackpool player in the area, penalty!! Lonerghan obligingly dived out of the way of Kiergan Parker's gently lobbed shot that went right down the middle.
Shortly after Mellor brought down well inside the Blackpool area, to our amasement a free kick 2 yards outside was given. Later on we hit the bar and had several shots scrambled away, not good enough quite frankly if relegation is to be avoided. Since Irvine was appointed our results have been worse than under Simpson, 3 points from possible 15 hardly promotion form. A Blackpool fan had a massive fit at the ground and sadly died, which puts things in perspective, condolences to his family on a sad day for them.

And worse was to happen Noel. QPR defeat Burnley, (did Burnley let them win on purpose )?, and North End go to the bottom of the league. While last year at this time North End were next to the top of the league, ten points ahead of eventual winners Sunderland.

I was texted last night by my son to tell me they were bottom . The team that's bottom at Christmas usually gets relegated, so Saturday's results have a great significance.
