Hi. I went to Wellfield between the years 1981 - 1986. Had a great time. I can always remember Mrs Cockram looking at our nails in Typing and if they were long or if she thought they were long, you used to get the ruler. I keep my nails quite short now as I type at work. I can remember Mr Roberts the music teacher. People thought he was rather strange. Mr Howarth was our Headmaster. If a teacher was off he used to stand in. Lessons with him were quite fun.

Familiar poeple are Barry Pilkington, Barry Bowling, Pat Patterson, Brian Marsh, Warrick Higginson. I believe Ken had a younger brother Tony. Hi, Batman:
It didn't register when I first read your post. Shirley Preston is my cousin, maiden name Damp. She's the daughter of my Uncle Charlie (my Dad's cousin). They lived on the west side of Stanifield Lane just north of Mill Street in one of the two big semi-detached houses.
I thought she was a member here, but I can't find her in the list.

Leyland resident 1941-1965, emigrated to the US in 1968,

Hello! I new on here but quite an "old" person(soon to be retired!) who went to Wellfield between 1957 - 1964. I lived in Stanley Avenue, Farington and my older sister Ann also went to Wellfield. We also went to Farington Junior school
Reading this topic I remember the following teachers:
Joe Lowe - I'll never forget that smell & the pain inflicted by his cane!
Mr Chester - Geography - one of my favourite subjects
Mr Hough - form teacher + Biology(disecting those frogs!!)
Mr Hall - music - nice chap
Audrey Malley - I'm sure she looked after me as a cub at St. Ambrose church?
Mr Butterworth - Science - good teacher & those exciting experiments(think about those Health & Safety issuses today!) He introduced us to photograph & all that went on in the dark room.
PE Teacher - can't remember his name but he was a big chap who had glasses. Think he must have done me some good as I played in the 1st 11 at both football & cricket
Ernie Rostom - metalwork - he used to shout at us " have you put those tools away yet!!!!"
Mr Davis - woodwork - nice chap & I still have the bedside cabinet I made from an old school desk.
Mr Farrington - English but a bit scary
Mr Church - head - a nice chap
Was in the Yellows - Corinthians - we always had a battle against the Greens(name Athenians?)
The memory is not good these days re names at school except when I see them in other people's postings.
Will be in Leyland this weekend at a Leyland Motors Reunion being held at the CV museum. We left Leyland/Euxton in 1981 to live in Bedford but we still say we are going back home when we come up north.
My wife Linda(Stephenson) lived in Westwood Road off Northgate and we have been happily married for 35 years. And they said it wouldn't last! She was/is the clever one as she went to Balshaws.
Hope to hear from some old friends
Cheers
Edward Parry

Welcome to the forum, I went to Wellfield but a bit earlier than you I was there between 1951 and 1955, I remember after reading your thread all the teachers you did, so your memory is not that bad at all.
