No just a regular until this season Jim ( went to every home game last season) . When my son (one of them) left to live on the Isle of Mann, I had no-one to go with ( aaahhh) and as it's now £23 if you pay on the day, I decided to pick and chose my games, so far just the Man U reserve game.

David, if you are out there, I didn't make the Leeds game, my ankle is still very sore from the fall I had 5 weeks ago and I wouldn't have been able to walk from the bus station to the ground, sorry about that, but you saw a cracking performance I believe.

North End played very well Noel, I had a good seat just about halfway between the halfway line and the edge of the penalty area at the Fulwood end. I was surprised at how bad Leeds performed, and I couldn't understand why they had Lewis playing at full back. Wise was anything but. [:o)]
I also went to the Rovers 0 v 1 Man Utd water polo match. Approx. the same position as the North End match at the Riverside side. We got thoroughly soaked to the skin, and I do mean to the skin. We were in row four, with the storm blowing toward us. The first 15 minute downpour was something to see. I had about seven layers of clothing on and by halftime it was through to the skin. It was one of the very few games that I left before the final whistle. United had scored, and Rovers were under the cosh so they weren't about to come back.
Just to let you know how North End rip you off...23 pounds at the gate ??? Only 18 pounds to watch the Blackburn game [Sad][Sad]

You are right about the rip off price, if you pay on the day you have to pay £2 more. If you had got your ticket a day before it would have only been £21. I say "only". Scant wonder attendances are down even though the team is performing well. Today they have announced annual profit of £55,000 mainly due to selling Mears and Davis for £3.5million, and they have a wage bill of £7 million.
Something wrong, players being paid too much I would say. My first game looks like being Colchester on 23rd at home, my son will be over from I.O.M. and said "dad, get a ticket". I miss the Pavilion, it was a great old stand, I know it looks an eyesore but it was warmer and less clinical than the blue and white plastic seats of the other stands

I liked the old South Pavilion too Noel. I never used it when I lived there, I was a Spion Kop spectator whenever I went on, which wasn't too often as we used to play at the same time as North End, so it was usually the night games I got to see.
The pavilion was when I started returning for vacation, it was cosy, and the Guild bar was handy both before, at half time, and after the games...hic !
I was very disapointed with the set up in the Tom Finney stand, at half time of the Leeds game I was expecting to get a drink in the Great Room, but found myself in a concrete bunker type area under the stands. I gave up hope of getting a drink before the game was to restart.
You're right, it is very impersonal compared to the old South Pavilion.

It's tough at the top of the Championship. The two top teams are trying their best not to have top spot but I hope North End stay up there to qualify at the end of the season.

Martin, It`s always been the same with PNE (I can testify to that over the last 50years or so). We have always failed to take advantage of situations (today being a prime example). I have always felt happier when we were up against the top club as opposed to the bottom one. If a team had lost their last ten games - then PNE could always be relied upon to play `Father Christmas`.

- noel - 25-Nov-2006

I'm trying not to get too involved this year, as you say you can gaurantee they'll let you down, I believe today's game is being featured on Granada's Championship tomorrow, it sounded an extremely dull game.
I'm following the cricket down under instead.[:0]

Isn't it pathetic that a team striving to get automatic promotion, sitting near the top of their division can't even score against the bottom of the league, Southend, losing two valuable points, and the same end result with Crystal Palace, another two points dropped. It's not promotion side football is it ?And why are the local papers harping on about North End being in their highest position in 50 years ??? 50 years ago this season North End finished third in Division One. They were relegated in 1961, that's only 45 years ago. I don't get it.

- noel - 30-Nov-2006

I think they are saying the first time they have been top of the second division for more than 50 years David, that's how I interpret it. When were they last top of Div 2 that was, 1951??
Agreed it's hardly promotion stuff and Billy Davies is slowly getting up there with Derby. Stoke are a threat too but 7 of their players are loan players including 4 Prem players such as Lee Hendrie, it's hardly their team is it?
