Getting sent off never did Beckham's England career any harm David.[Wink]
I think he holds England's bad boy record doesn't he, could Nugent be the next England captain based on that?.[}Smile]

You know Noel, you once mentioned Fuller as the best player to play for Preston since Sir Tom. Now you're trying to compare Nugent with Beckham [?]

HELP,
is there anyone on this thread that knows anything about Association Football [?]

Beckham does hold the bad boy record of being sent off twice while playing for England. However, I happened to be at the last game v Austria, last October at Old Trafford, and if that was a sending off offence....well, we saw the refereeing of the World Cup, that ref that night was practicing sending off's. And Beckham has been dropped from the England list of players so I would have to say that him being sent off hasn't done him too much good has it [?]

List of all England players sent off
Alan Mullery, 5 June 1968 vs. Yugoslavia in Florence, 1968 European Championship
Alan Ball, 6 June 1973 vs. Poland in Chorzow
Trevor Cherry, 12 June 1977 vs. Argentina in Buenos Aires
Ray Wilkins, 6 June 1986 vs Morocco in Monterrey (first England player to be sent off in the World Cup Finals)
David Beckham, 30 June 1998 vs. Argentina in Saint-Etienne
Paul Ince, 5 September 1998 vs. Sweden in Stockholm
Paul Scholes, 5 June 1999 vs. Sweden in London (first England player to be sent off at Wembley Stadium)
David Batty, 8 September 1999 vs. Poland in Warsaw
Alan Smith, 16 October 2002 vs. Macedonia in Southampton
David Beckham, 8 October 2005 vs. Austria in Manchester (first England player to be sent off twice)
Wayne Rooney, 1 July 2006 vs. Portugal (2006 World Cup quarter-final)

I suspect given time Wayne Rooney will take over that mantel.

How`s this for an example of sheer hypocrisy. Billy Davis complained that the chanting aimed at him yesterday by the Preston fans, `Showed a total lack of respect for him`. I`m absolutely lost for words. I don`t know what the chants were - but I expect that he deserved every one of them.

I followed the game on the BBC text report that is automatically updated every two minutes. I was amazed at the possesion ratio which at times was Derby 72% North End 28%, and the game finished with something like Derby 66% North End 34%. With those figures in mind, it was amazing that North End held on for a draw.

David, Not amazing really. How often in past years have we come away from Deepdale having dominated a game throughout, yet ended up loosing?

- David - 20-Sep-2006

That's right Jim, I've played in games like that myself.

I have a feeling that the attendance on New Years Day may well be higher than average ( even allowing for the fact that it`s a Bank holiday). I expect there may be thousands who would like to give a warm welcome to Billy and his backroom deserters.

Tonight's win against Barnsley should put Preston in third place in the Championship. Slightly better than this time last year.

Let's hope they can keep it up.

Another stunning win! 4-1 against Sunderland and third in the table.
I heard a radio commentator talking about Sunderland last week, they said that the Preston game would be a good test for Sunderland and a good win would indicate that they were in good shape for promotion. Back to the drawing board!
