Do you think North End could push for a play off place? It might sound far fetched but they are only 9 points off the play offs.

- Spitfire - 23-Mar-2008

Martin, I think it`s impossible with only 6 games to play. I also think it`s too soon. This time next year, when Irvine has his own team in place, could be a totally different situation.

Preston 3 - 1 - Sheff Utd

Another three points in the bag and if they keep this up next season, they should be at the right end of the table [Smile]

Well, we are nearer the top than the bottom when comparing play-off and relegation places.
I am not in the least surprised at our current position, my postings over the last several months is testimony to that (despite everything that David was telling us to the contrary).I have the greatest hopes for next year - having a manager in place who actually knows what he`s doing.

The big deal was Neil Mellor, playing like I've never seen him play all season. Having convinced himself he wasn't fit enough to last 90 minutes, hence his bit part all season, Alan Irvine told him it was "all in your head" and with Priskin playing for Hungary the day before, Mellor got the nod to start. His last goal is superb considering he couldn't last 90 minutes ( it was scored in the 90th minute)

That performance by Mellor should have done his confidence a world of good. What a great game he had.

Perhaps you can answer a question? Why are we below QPR in the league table? Same points, same number of matches, same goal difference. I would have thought that alphabetical order would apply.
Anyway, with a bit of luck and a strong breeze, we`ll remedy the points situation next Saturday.

I think it`s a certainty that AI will be awarded the `manager of the month` title for March.

It's based on goals scored if points and goal difference are the same Jim. I think North End have only scored 43 while QPR have got over 50. If Mawene hadn't given the penalty away we'd have been above QPR and above Sheff U as well.

One can`t argue with Phil Brown being awarded `Manager of the month` for March. At least we won`t be carrying the `Curse of the Manager` into the next game. I have to admit that in recent times losing the next game hasn`t been so prevalent.

He's done a good job at Hull, i'd prefer AI to win the next manager of the month.

QPR v Preston, a win today will see PNE climb a little further up the table.
