They defended really well, last 20 minutes was non-stop Chelsea attacking. Simon Davey, Ryan Kidd, Kelham O'Hanlon, all PNE cast-offs, well not totally true about Davey, he retired early due to injury.

I`ve just been trawling back through the last 6 pages of this thread. The comments about the teams that are out of reach of PNE and uncatchable are hilarious. We need a reliable tipster on this forum.(Leroy, who??). Keep the Faith [Tongue][Tongue][Tongue]

William, Congratulations - a magnificent win.

I am genuinely pleased that the season has gone the way it has. I have to admit that at times it was a little more hairy than was comfortable.
Had we plodded on and achieved mid-table status, we would probably still have Simpson in charge and little hope of promotion.
As they say, (and how very true) `No pain, no gain.
I`ve seen every manager at PNE since the late 1940`s and none have given me more cause for optimisn than Alan Irvine. My one and only worry is our ability to hang on to him.

I go to the games Jim and I report what I see. Under Simpson we were awful, at one point I stopped going because it was so embarrasing and a complete waste of money. It's taken a long time for AI to get the team playing as he wanted and he is still handicapped by not having, for the most part, his own players in. If we go down then it's down to that pure and simple. I am more optimistic now than for all season, it's going to the wire, as they say. Chris Brown, a no hoper according to Norwich fans has had a major impact, unfortunately the other 3 strikers, Hawley, Mellor and Ormerod simply are not up to the task at the moment.

They started scoring when they signed this guy...

Don't get too excited yet, three of the teams below them can still go above them with their games in hand, and North End don't have an easy run in. But there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

David, I apologise for saying that your comments over the last six pages were hilarious. I have just re-read them and have to say that they were side splittingly hilarious. Do you realise just how foolish your ill thought comments make you look? Anyway, thanks for a good laugh. Oh! by the way - [Wink]Keep the Faith.

The new stand is coming on well

David,Your tactics are falling upon deaf ears. Of course what you say COULD happen. (it won`t of course). PNE (by your line of reasoning) COULD gain another 27 points. (that won`t happen either). However, I have always said that they won`t be relegated. (that WILL happen). Keep the Faith.

Regarding you`r `freebie` tickets (via your friend in the LFA). Who are you going to shout for now? Also, do you ever feel a twinge of conscience sitting there knowing that a genuine suporter didn`t manage to get a ticket for the team he has supported all season?
Cup finals and Wimbledon have the same thing in common. Most of the seats are filled with people who watch every time (in most cases the last match they saw was the final of the year before). Ah¬ What is is to KNOW people.

Meantime back in Colombia, a few fans disagree, maybe Sepp Blatter would think it's a minor skirmish as they aren't English,

Noel, Had that happened in England, I suspect that this page would have been filled with `informed` comments, very quickly.

As I said earlier, PNE won`t win every game between now and the end of the season. I have a suspicion that tomorrow may be one of those.

The win a Charlton was all the more impressive having lost Chilvers in the warm-up (for the remainder of the season - what a shame for both he and the club) and having to shuffle the team minutes before kick-off.

Chilvers has been an unsung star of the team, reliable and steady. Rarely getting man of the match award but like a good referee, un-noticed. Sadly this doesn't apply to most referees, or ex-referees for that matter.
